Having an extra skein from this, I gave back and knit my benefactor a hat.
At the end I used a little of the original swatch to finish.
pattern: mine, following this recipe more or less
- cast on 120 stitches (or number to fit head – check your gauge, etc. etc.)
- k1p1 ribbing for an inch
- 1 round k
- 1 round k1p1
- repeat previous 2 rows until appropriate length
- centered double decreases 6 times each knit round
